Welcome! Congratulations to you during this exciting time of your life! My name is Natasha Johnson, the owner of Blue Skies Doula. I have spent my life helping families and women in a variety of ways. I have always been inspired by the strength of women and the miracle of birth. I firmly believe that, given the right tools and support, the birth experience can be both comfortable and joyous. This is why I’m a doula, and I'm proud to serve women and families throughout the East valley area.

 

I’m here to provide unbiased information and emotional support that benefits women and families during pregnancy, childbirth and postpartum. Every woman deserves to have someone there to guide and assist them in making educated choices about their pregnancy, and remind them that they can trust in the strength of their bodies during this time. Prenatal Visits

Responsive to Your Needs

After beginning our relationship with a meet-and-greet, I will be committed to your health and the well-being of your growing family. I provide two prenatal visits in which we will work together to discuss your preferences and develop your birth plan. I will also work with you and your birth partner to learn and practice comfort measures which will be tremendously helpful in making your birth experience as enjoyable as possible. I will also be available by phone, text, and email to offer encouragement and answer any questions you may have.

Birthing Guidance

I'm pleased to offer Birth and Postpartum Doula services, as well as Doula care for women and couples experiencing infertility, adopting parents, and women considering making an adoption plan for their baby.

Continuous Support

As your Birth Doula, I provide personalized and unwavering support to you and your family before, during, and after the birth of your child. Our initial meeting and prenatal visits will provide the foundation upon which I can tailor my birth services to meet your needs, as each birth is different. For some women, a home birth is preferred and others choose to deliver in a hospital. Whatever you own choice, I will join you for your labor and stay with you, offering emotional support and physical assistance, to both you and your partner. I will also stay for the first few hours after birth to help you get settled with your new baby and assist with the beginning of the establishment of breastfeeding, if you so choose.

Postpartum Support

Ongoing Care

The three months following birth is often referred to as the '4th Trimester.' This is such a special time for your and your family. It can be full of happiness and excitement and also exhaustion and lots of questions and concerns. As your Postpartum Doula, I provide evidenced based information on topics such as infant feeding, emotional and physical recovery from birth, mother–baby bonding, infant soothing, basic newborn care, and integration with older siblings. I am available to help your new family in those first days and weeks after bringing home your new baby.

Overnight Family Care

Encouragement and Support

Caring for a newborn is fun and full of joy. It can also be exhausting! I am pleased to offer overnight family care during this special time so that new parents can take time to sleep and rejuvenate as they bond with their new little one adjust to their new family structure.

Fertility Doula

Offering Support

Needless to say, navigating the world of infertility is overwhelming. As your Fertility Doula, I will provide you with one-on-one support and guidance through your family building journey. I will always remain respectful of your personal choices and the decisions made with your doctors -- I do not make any medical or psychiatric recommendations.

Doula Support for Expectant Women

Informative and Compassionate

If you are expecting and considering making a plan for adoption for your baby, this is an emotional time. I am honored to provide compassionate care and support to you throughout your pregnancy and delivery, whether you decide to parent or place your child with an adoptive family. My goal is to provide the birth support all women need with the additional emotional support that is so critical when making an important life decision.

Doula Services for Adoptive Parents

Knowledgeable and Experienced

Adopting is an exciting and sometimes stressful experience. As an adoptive mother myself, I know this time requires tremendous patience and support. I am pleased to offer childbirth and newborn care education to adoptive parents. I also provide encouragement and assistance in the home for families with newborns or older children as they all settle in and bond as a family.

Sibling Doula

Facilitating Adjustment

Bringing a new baby home is exciting for the whole family. Siblings sometimes have a difficult time adjusting to their new role as well as their relationship to the baby. With a degree in Early Childhood Education and years of experience with small children, I am uniquely suited to helping your older children settle in to their relationship to their new sibling.

FAQ

Does a Doula replace nursing staff?

No. Doulas do not replace nurses or other medical staff. Doulas do not perform clinical or medical tasks such as taking blood pressure or temperature, monitoring fetal heart rate, doing vaginal examinations or providing postpartum clinical care.

A Doula DOES:

*  Provide emotional support

*  Help prepare birth plan

*  Give information during pregnancy and labor

*  Provide continuous labor support

*  Advocate for mother

*  Help partner support mother

*  Provide comfort measures during labor

A Doula does NOT:

*  Provide clinical tasks

*  Give medical advice

*  Diagnose conditions

*  Judge you for your choices and decisions

*  Project their personal values and biases

*  Take over the role of partner

Do you offer postpartum support?

Yes. As a Postpartum Doula, I provide assistance and support to families bringing home new babies, whether through birth or adoption. I provide evidence-based information regarding infant feeding, emotional and physical recovery following birth, mother-baby bonding,  infant soothing, and basic newborn care.
